I recently purchased a new motherboard and was thinking about upgrading my CPU later, but I decided to replace the motherboard itself. I currently have a B450 Tomahawk Max and plan to switch to the B550 Phantom Gaming 4. After installing everything and turning it on, the CPU indicator and RAM light came up. I re-seated the CPU multiple times, installed all four RAM sticks separately into their slots, and none of that changed. I double-checked every pin and recently noticed the motherboard doesn’t support my CPU model. Even though it’s a newer generation board, can I still make it work? Here are the supported CPUs for this new motherboard.
the b550 phantom gaming 4 performs significantly worse compared to the b450 tomahawk in terms of build quality. It seems likely the board could be faulty since the 3900x would function in it, but it might easily stress the VRMs.
