Over the last few days my system has been struggling to boot. It's a Gigabyte X170X-UD5 with an i7 6700k. Every time I power it on, it starts up, displays some boot codes, and then settles on "55" before restarting again. I checked the manual and thought it might be a RAM problem, but I have a 4x8 GB DDR4 2133 module. I removed everything and only used two sticks, but nothing changed the restart cycle. I tried flashing the BIOS on Gigabyte boards—it requires going into the BOIS. I couldn't get a signal from the motherboard (even after removing the graphics card and using integrated graphics). I attempted to clear the CMOS, but I'm unsure if that's the right procedure. I left the motherboard battery for about 15 minutes and then reinserted it, but the issue persisted. I also removed my air cooler and double-checked the CPU socket for any pin problems. Everything seemed fine, so I reinstalled the cooler myself. The only thing I changed was the CPU fan, along with the main power and boot SSD. All other connections were unplugged. I've tried every troubleshooting method I know, but nothing works.

I encountered two 2GB boards repeatedly generating Error 55. I suspect the CPU is under pressure, possibly due to a loose mounting. Could you tell me what cooler you're using?

It isn't clear what you're describing, but the issue seems to be with mounting pressure. The screws are as far in as they can go, which might explain the problem. If you're unsure how to fix it, feel free to ask.

Ensure the CMOS is reset and cleared before retrying. Did the CPU run on another system prior to reinstalling it?

I attempted that, but it didn't work. It's only been utilized in this system before, with the same components consistently used.
