Hello there. Your computer stopped functioning after installing a faulty HDD. The system suddenly ceased working, and even testing the PSU on another machine resolved the issue. I've reset the CMOS, tried different CPUs and RAM, but nothing worked. My thought is the HDD failure likely damaged the motherboard, though no blown components were found—capacitors appear intact. It only lights up with lights, not any sound. Doesn't have a buzzer speaker. Is there a solution? Your specs are: Intel Xeon X5450 CPU, Asus ROG Commando MB 6GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM, Sapphire R9 280X GPU, 250GB Samsung HDD, Gigabyte P650B 650W PSU.

Did you power off that HDD? The only part that didn’t get hand-painted appears to be the PSU... Yes, MB can be damaged via a SATA port. The conclusion is clear—you’ve already handled the troubleshooting. It’s safe to say the case is closed.

I discovered a swollen capacitor near the south bridge. That could be the cause.
