Thanks! I'm confident your 12700f will be pleased with the 8 pins.
It's 230W, yet it’s enough for the 12700. Every Z690 board comes with a minimum of 8+4 for the 12900K since that section requires extra power.
I own a Z590-E with identical connectors as before, but it won’t turn on unless every connector is connected. I’ve already tested this, so you’ll need both the 8-pin and 4-pin connectors for it to function properly.
unless you have a GPU, you'll need to consider the extra power consumption, as the additional 230W won't suffice alone. You also have to factor in any other power-hungry components when calculating total requirements.
I'm discussing the power sources for the system. The 8-pin EPS cable supplies power to the CPU, while the 12700 chip draws 180W at its maximum. The remaining 50W must come from another component or source.
I understand the 8 pin is intended for the CPU, while the 4 pin connector is a +12V connector. I attempted to power on my MOBO without it connected and had no success—it worked only when the proper cable was attached. Even with a 750W power supply, the GPU draws more than 50W. Have you checked the current draw of your power supplies lately? My own GPU suggests a minimum of 650W for optimal performance.
