The motherboard fails to start with RAM in slots B1 and B2.
Hello everyone! My GFS computer kept looping when it powered on this morning. I went through several checks—testing RAM from my PC, trying each slot separately, and reseating the CPU multiple times. I also cleared the CMOS. It seems the system won’t boot if there’s any RAM installed in what I think are slots B1 and B2 (the two farthest slots from the CPU). The CPU is a 3700x and the board is a B450M/AC. The RAM is Corsair low-profile 3600 DDR4 16GB x2. If you have more details, feel free to share!
The frequent cause of losing a channel is an improper cooler mount, such as uneven or loose installation, though repeated re-seating of the CPU makes this less probable.
I was in the same situation. I repositioned it a couple of times, gave it a gentle shake to confirm it was set correctly, and then secured it firmly. There was a storm overnight, which makes me worried it might have affected the chip, but it really doesn’t seem likely.
Small update, its giving some post codes now I think the mobo might be dead. I switched cpu coolers to hopfully get more mounting pressure. I cant get a full install finished anymore. I got to the linux mint desktop but it froze and hasnt come back
