The motherboard emits a beep indicating a new CPU installation.
Hello everyone, I recently installed a new CPU for my PC—an i7 3770—but when I powered it on, it kept producing three beeps indicating a memory error. After swapping it out for my old i5 2400, everything functioned normally. I attempted to reset the BIOS, but the issue persisted. My specifications are: Intel DH67BL i7 3770, 12GB RAM at 1333MHz, BIOS version BLH6710H.86A.0162. The Intel site mentioned that a newer BIOS version (like BLH6710H.86A.0151 or later) is required for Ivy Bridge models. I’m unsure what’s causing the problem and wondering if there might be an issue with the processor itself.
It seems like the processor is completely dead, but the i5 model should function with the existing BIOS.
Have you attempted a CMOS reset? If not and it didn’t resolve the issue, look for CPU compatibility information for MOBO. Check if an updated BIOS version is needed for the I5 model, download the BIOS, install it on the board, then test with an i7 processor to see if it functions properly.
It seems the issue might be related to a lack of alternative components like a different motherboard or quicker RAM.
Requires BIOS version 146 or 150 with a motherboard PCB revision of G10189-206 or higher.
Check the site for the exact BIOS release you must install. Update your BIOS to a compatible version.
