hello i purchased a new pc for black friday at micro center. the specs are: msi x570-a pro, ryzen 2700x, 16gb 3200mhz ram, and a 240gb m.2 ssd. the issue is that when i powered it on, there were no fans, no mb leds, no power supply fans, and no lights. i had the power supply from my previous pc, so i was confident it would work. i even tested with a different power supply and nothing happened. i removed everything except the ram and cpu, shorted the power switch pins, but still got no response. after taking out the cpu, there were no bent pins, and i didn’t have either ram or cpu installed. i put the pc together quickly when i got home, so it went into the case fast. i’m not sure if static shock was involved since i was discharging power to the plugged-in supply. the main questions are: what should i do next to confirm if it’s dead? can a motherboard be damaged without cpu or ram? and will a motherboard with no cpu or ram start fans or power up?

The system won’t start without a card; since the 1050ti seems to be from a different build, likely another problem exists. Attempting to boot without a video card isn’t worth it with a 2700x. Have you connected the speaker to the motherboard to check for error codes? Also, the MSI A-Pro’s VRMs are extremely poor—severe damage, consider returning it. If possible, opt for an X570 or better, like an ASUS or Gigabyte if needed. You can mention you tried but it didn’t work, and they’ll return it within 30 days if it’s not damaged.
