Hi everyone,
I'm new here and came across something unclear.
I purchased a used ASUS ROG ix Maximus Formula from eBay and replaced my old motherboard.
Before making any changes, I cleared the CMOS.
While checking the CPU temperatures, I saw that my i7 7700k was running at 4.5 GHz.
I haven't tried overclocking because I've never done it before.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Attempt to reset CMOS using the jumper or leave the battery out for about 20 minutes to ensure it clears properly. Examine the core multiplier in the BIOS to confirm it matches the stock setting. Also, verify that the used motherboard has the turbo boost feature activated.

The maximum turbo speed for that CPU is 4.5ghz. It isn't an overclock unless it starts slowing down after booting; some power modes could be turned off. Is the motherboard using the most recent BIOS version? (1301?)
