The motherboard came to life when I began the setup!
Hey there, new poster! I’m not sure what I’ve messed up yet. I cleaned out my computer and took it apart to remove dust. I also swapped in some RGB LL120 fans for the radiator and added them as an exhaust on the back. After reassembling everything, I noticed my SSD wasn’t connected. So I used my old SATA power cable and plugged the SSD into the power supply. When I turned it on, the motherboard sparked and there was a pop sound. The computer started up but the fans didn’t spin. Do you think this might be related? Here’s a photo of the board damage I saw—it’s the only thing visible.
appears to have blown a fuse, though i might be mistaken—just assuming from your words. i’d check if the board is still covered under warranty.
That's a voltage regulator not a fuse. Could still try, I've RMAd a board before that was long past warranty. They sent me a newer model though, since they had no stock of the old board.
The board is nearing three to four years old and won’t be covered under warranty anymore. I’m checking whether the issue is with the fuse or if the fan CPU header got damaged. I might consider purchasing a Corsair fan controller hub and testing a new fan controller.
The key identifier I have is PA102F06, which is a transistor. There isn’t much available information about its specifications or details. It seems difficult to locate a schematic or board diagram for this part. Purchasing it would likely be challenging. Without a diagram and voltage data, it’s hard to determine if other components were affected.
Thanks for your assistance. At the moment, the most viable choice seems to be consulting a professional to assess the situation.
Hey everyone, I accidentally damaged a MOSFET/transistor on my motherboard by using the wrong power cable for a fan controller. The board has a photo of the blown component, and there are three similar ones present. Could someone identify which model it is so I can find a replacement? Also, if you know the exact part number (usually on top), that would be super helpful. Thanks!
