The motherboard appears slightly misaligned—should you be concerned?
My Asus Prime Z370-A is installed in a Meshify 2 Compact and looks a bit off. The photos show everything working fine—USB ports are all used and functioning properly. There are minor scratches on the connectors, but nothing serious, and the motherboard isn’t touching the case at any point.
I don't need to worry about it. Is this motherboard one where the rear I/O shield is built into the board itself rather than being added separately in the case? From a technical standpoint, the motherboard standoff and mounting screws connect directly to the case, affecting electrical conductivity.
The IO shield is placed inside the case first, after which the motherboard is added. There are no other instances where the motherboard makes contact with the case.
It seems the lower part of the I/O shield isn't fully seated at the bottom near the PCIe slots. The motherboard is likely making contact with the case through standoffs, which suggests the case might be slightly bent. Try placing a straight edge on the rear I/O marked in the photo to check for gaps. It would be best to take out the motherboard and I/O shield for a more accurate inspection.
Is this something you need to be concerned about? During installation, there were no major issues. The mounting points fit well on the motherboard, and all screws are secured without touching the back. This isn’t a brand-new setup—about a year and a half have passed since I re-seated the board. My current build uses the Z370A: P.S.: Previously I used a Cryorig H7 cooler, which appears to have slightly bent the motherboard, possibly causing the misalignment you noticed. Additionally, the foam on the IO shield is thicker at the bottom than at the top, matching the slight warping in that area.
It's moving because the holes on the motherboard have solder pads on both sides for grounding connections.
