Right after the power connections fail, the system powers up and then stops instantly. There’s no display signal or fault indicator on the motherboard. All components except the power supply and case remain intact. The processor is a Ryzen 5800X, the graphics card is an MSI 3060, and the motherboard uses an ASUS TUF B550. The PSU appears to be a cooler master model rated at 550W, though I’m unsure due to recent rebranding in Norway. It only features an 8-pin CPU socket while the motherboard has 8+4 pins, which seems fine. I’ve tried several methods: powering on via case button, shorting the power pins, using just the CPU with RAM and no graphics cards. I also removed and reinstalled the CPU, reapplied thermal paste, reset CMOS by shorting CLRTC pins and removing the CMOS battery. I already think the PSU might be the issue, but I need to be absolutely confident before purchasing another one, just in case it doesn’t work.

CPU connector size is usually sufficient; most systems work without 8+4 pins except for very high-end overclocking. Ensure all other components are connected correctly, such as GPU power, RAM, and consider using just one RAM stick if needed.

I made sure everything was connected correctly several times, including the GPU, CPU, and 24-pin port. I also attempted to boot using just one RAM stick.
