Chrome runs quickly with a functional Gmail counter. Audacity works well for audio recordings. Premiere Pro CS6 offers excellent editing features. DS3 Tool lets me play games on my PS3 controller, including racing titles. VLC Player is useful for video playback, especially when media players don’t support MTS files. I recently converted MTS files to MP4 using an MTS to MP4 converter, but it didn’t work as expected. Spotify provides quality music, and I find great tunes.
These are the tools I rely on most: Voobly (play AoE II online), Perl Firefox (could try Opera), MP3Tag LaTeX (MikTex and TexMaker), VLC MusicBee.
Irfanview, greenshot, MPC-HC, media details, bullzip PDF printer, Notepad++, tool that restores gadgets into Windows 8 (Windows 8 gadget pack), DisplayFusion
Img burn, Daemon Tools lite, filezilla, vuze, bit torrent sync. Likely many more tools exist. Most are tailored or customized. For a quick tip, skip VLC and use MPC-HC.
