I recently received a new Samsung SR32 monitor. At first, I couldn't get my PC to show anything because I set the HDMI mode to 1.4 instead of 2.0. It worked then, but only at 30Hz. My GTX 970 drivers are updated, yet the issue persists—when switching to HDMI 2.0 nothing appears. Any advice would be really helpful.

Have you looked in Window's "Display Settings"? Each time I received a new Monitor, its refresh rate was limited to half of Windows' setting. Right-click your Desktop, select Display Settings, then Advanced Display Settings, Display Adapter Properties, click on Monitor tab, set Refresh Rate to 60.
