I powered on my PC and entered a game, only to find the frame rate was noticeably unstable. Although it maintained around 300 FPS, the visuals felt sluggish. I examined the NVIDIA control panel and display settings, but the monitor still displayed at 240 Hz. Updating Windows and GPU drivers didn’t resolve the issue. I even tested swapping the display cable, which was from my previous 144 Hz monitor—uncertain if bandwidth was sufficient. The problem persists across all games, especially OW2, with minimal smoothness regardless of reset or configuration changes.

I cleaned the PC case fans to rule out overheating, but noticed that when playing OW, CPU usage stayed low at 25% and GPU at 10%, with temperatures around 50-60°C. I suspect the CPU might have been under higher load, while the GPU remained stable.

I switched to a different display cable (an older model from my 144 Hz monitor), but there was no clear improvement. The discrepancies in clarity when using different refresh rates or pixel speeds were minimal—almost identical at 240 Hz and 120 Hz.

My system specs are: 3060 Ti, 32 GB 4800 MHz RAM, i7-12700K.

Are you sure the 240Hz is the sole monitor? You also have a 60Hz secondary one, which seems to cause issues with your 144Hz main screen. You adjusted some settings in the Nvidia control panel, but the problem persists—likely due to driver design flaws.

No, I didn't adjust the frame rate limiter.
