The Minecraft launcher fails to link with the server.
Hello, Community I'm facing an issue with my Minecraft launcher. When I try to start it, the login prompt appears: "I'm using Java 8(Update 73) and Eset Smart Security 8 as my virus scanner." Even though I've turned off my firewall and protection, which are managed by Eset (which also controls Windows Firewall), it still doesn't work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! You're seeing the error message because your Minecraft account isn't set up correctly or hasn't been verified. Make sure your email and password are entered properly, and try logging in again. If the issue persists, check your account status or contact support.
Did you ever find a fix? I'm having the same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Java and Minecraft. I have no third party software. I'm on a Windows 10 laptop that, I believe, was auto updated by MS to Anniversary. I turned off the firewall to try to get it to start and that didn't work. I have an SSD so when I start the game I can't get the launcher to stop on the log page, it just flashes right through it to the login. Mojang has been incredibly unhelpful, telling me over and over to uninstall 3rd party software, which I never installed in the first place.
