I set up Minecraft using the official .deb installer and the icon confirms it's ready. However, when I try to start it, nothing happens. Instead, a simple log appears in the .minecraft directory with an error message about models loading. The net queue is initializing, but the launcher core starts without progressing further.

Consider using the MultiMC launcher for managing Minecraft instances, both modded and vanilla, rather than the standard Java Edition launcher. I've relied on MultiMC since Beta 1.7/Beta 1.8, having played since Alpha 1.1, and it proves very useful for organizing and starting any Minecraft setups I maintain.
