I have an AT2040 with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen. My gain knob is mostly set to the right with windows mic and Discord volume at maximum. Friends keep telling me to increase volume to 200%, but they still say I'm too quiet. Am I doing something wrong or is it necessary to keep the mic on all the time?

Mic sucks. A lot of folks have faced the same issues. You've probably already checked the couple of tips on the Reddit link provided, which will guide you through expanding the discussion to find all relevant advice. One suggestion could be useful, but it seems most of the concerns stem from built-in gain issues with the device or conflicts with the onboard DAC, especially if you're using one. Either way, you're not the only one dealing with these problems.
