The Meta Quest software doesn't recognize Radeon 7000 Series graphics cards.
Hey! I recently purchased and assembled my very first all-new gaming PC. It was time to upgrade to Team Red since the 4060Ti 16GB fell short of my budget, so I opted for an AMD 7600XT with 16GB RAM. The main focus of this update is before buying the card, when I researched VR reviews using 7600 Series cards (link to video below). Generally, the reviewer mentioned performance drops over time, but he still managed to play. I thought it was acceptable since I’ve always had average results and it wasn’t a huge deal if it didn’t perform well. Quick update: after setting up my PC, I tried connecting my Quest 2 via USB with Meta Software, but got a black screen in the headset. Given that the 7600XT has been around for over four months, I suspect Meta resolved driver issues, though I’m not sure. I also tried Air Link and got the same issue, so I’m currently unable to use PCVR. Anyone have suggestions or information that could help? I’ve searched but haven’t found a clear solution. Thanks ahead! The fix: the AMD 5600G had its own graphics interfering, I switched my power plan to “Ultimate performance” and set the priority of ‘OVRServer_x64’ to High. I’ll post the links I found in a future “Solved” thread! 7600 Review: Specs – Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G RAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 32GB 3200Mhz GPU: Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 XT GAMING OC 16GB PSU: MSI MAG A650BN VR headset: Quest 2 Updated May 30, 2024 by DommoMotto
Thanks for the response! It might just be related to the 7600xt. Although it was recently announced, four months is quite a gap before something becomes obvious. It feels strange that a standard 7600 works with VR while the 7600 XT completely rejects it.
Solution: The AMD 5600G includes integrated graphics that the meta software attempted to utilize. Based on my understanding, since the Radeon 7600XT isn't listed in meta's supported GPU list, it likely switched to the built-in graphics, which couldn't execute a task. To address this, I followed recommendations from an anonymous forum member to switch to using my own GPU. I also referenced a guide on enabling Ultimate Performance mode in Windows, which I included for anyone needing it: LINK2. Please let me know if this assists future users!
