They restrict manual overclocking, but the combo strike settings and PBO adjustments can push performance high. With those configurations, you can reach around 4.3GHz consistently in Prime 95 like an 80C model. Gaming often boosts to 4.45GHz. One friend managed 4.46GHz using a B550 and a thermal right cooler, achieving 72°C.
4.45GHz across all cores under full load. I haven't attempted BCLK overclocking yet, but memory tuning makes a big difference. https://hwbot.org/submission/5169029_wer..._15455_cb/
I believe my engine won't reach 4.45 at full power due to thermals—it's spiking around 80c. I'm okay with 4.3 but I'll try to squeeze out more performance. For memory, I'm using a 4000 CL16 kit and the timings aren't fully optimized yet; I've been making some adjustments recently.
80C works well. It seems you might be near the power ceiling. Can you run the FCLK at 2000MHz with a 4000MT/s memory? Otherwise, it might not be worth pushing DRAM speed that high.
Check any adjustments for the 5800x3D using cinebench, as it’s easy to unintentionally hurt performance during tests instead of just a minor loss. Many people have seen cases where undervolting with PBO2 disabled drops their scores significantly. Suggest your friend run a R23 test and compare his results to the standard. The 5800x3D is quite fixed once set.
The components you possess should suffice; if kombo strike 3 functions well, focus on clock and memory adjustments for further gains. I recently completed full tuning of my 5800x3d system using a B550 AD UC and H150i cooling solution. The board caps at 102 bclk, limiting the maximum clock speed to around 4.55ghz. This doesn’t negate everything, though. The 5800x3d requires higher voltage to maintain those peak speeds, so applying a curve optimizer via PBO2tuner (or using kombo strike) becomes essential. Your processor likely ranks in the top 5% of cores—-30 CO and 102 bclk offer strong stability, potentially reaching 4.8ghz with a delay-locked phase and an external clock source. On the other side, your memory controller and Infinity Fabric aren’t performing optimally; I’ve been limited to 3733 C14 on my dual-rank die kit (2x16) at 1.5v Vdimm. This could point to a board issue, even though I managed sub-60ns memory latency after fine-tuning.
Yeah, I'm at 40/20. Honestly, we didn't make it that far, right?
