It's best to hold off until AMD releases the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs next month. Once available, someone should test the memory controller, and we can discover its capabilities. It's best to hold off until AMD releases the Ryzen 9000 series CPUs next month. Once available, someone should test the memory controller, and we can discover its capabilities. I have a system with 14700K running on 128GB DDR4, and based on the plan it should last 5 to 10 years. This reliability is worrying, especially since I can't upgrade the BIOS—it requires Windows for the ME update. Luckily, Linux might handle the latest Intel microcode automatically at boot, which could ease things. I’m thinking about switching to an AMD 9950X, but I need to confirm if it supports at least 128GB RAM (preferably more), and I’m okay skipping XMP/EXPO settings, which should help performance.
