I never completed ME3. The finale was ruined before I even purchased and played it; I tried a few times but always finished before the final mission and stopped there. The first game was my favorite, with more RPG features, though I didn’t enjoy the shift to a purely combat style. The story was decent enough to keep playing until the terrible ending.
The physics without Mako added excitement to planetary exploration. It was especially fun when things went wrong, like accidentally driving into a parking garage on other planets. Laughing at it, they might have room for improvement. Mako really made the game more engaging compared to relying on a basic metal detector for planet-hunting.
Mass effect is a must! You likely crushed the first one about eight times, tackled the second at least three times, and got through ME3 multiple times. Most Xbox players love this game, especially the achievements, but I played it on PC every time since I adore the PC version. The texture mod for ME1 really shined!

Bioware often struggles with adding neat touches while leaving many things unexplained. A more balanced approach would have been preferable, preserving some intrigue rather than forcing a tidy conclusion.
I recently tried playing ME3 in Flawless Widescreen to avoid a more uncomfortable view. Even though there are many warnings about problems with cinematics and other aspects, I went through the whole game and the only issue I noticed was the main menu appearing odd. It could be worth a try if that’s what’s holding you back.

The story is minimal, but the game emphasizes character growth and emotional depth. It’s arguably the most heartfelt entry in the series, possibly the best of Bioware’s work. I suppose it’s a bit disappointing that some leaks forced a rushed new ending, but I don’t think it’s as bad as people say. I believe those who pushed for extra content without extra effort were being overly demanding. Most should focus less on disliked endings and more on the issues with Prothean characters being included as early content.
