Hi, in November I upgraded my PC. I managed to play several games for a few days before they started crashing. I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions or could assist me. My setup includes: Windows 11 Pro x64 (latest update), AMD Ryzen 5 5600X with the latest driver, MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Ventus 3x (driver 528.02), ASUS Prime B450M-A II (BIOS 3802) with 2x DDR4 Corsair Vengeance RAM 8GB, 80+ White tested. Alternatives: Geforce GTX 1060 3GB, EVGA 600W W1. Crash-prone games are Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 5, Cyberpunk 2077, Overwatch 2, Squad GTA 5, Hitman 3, and even 3DMark tests. Notably, my VR titles haven’t crashed so far. Common issues: nvlddmkm error in Event Viewer, GPU crash for unknown reasons, GPU hanging, D3D device lost, and GPU removal errors. I’ve tried Restoro, updated drivers, downgraded NVIDIA versions, underclocked with MSI Afterburner, used Gpumemtest, swapped RAM, PSU, and reinstalled everything. Removed old GPU and drivers via Task Manager, reinstalled all visuals, directX, and wiped windows. I also removed the old chipset driver and motherboard-related drivers. Games that crash often are DirectX12 titles, especially with certain chipsets. It seems my setup is prone to instability—could it be a motherboard problem?

You’ve made several changes already. Please confirm if you also updated the CPU and restored the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery, particularly after upgrading from Zen 1 or Zen 2 to Zen 3.

Hi. It’s been quite the journey so far. I didn’t replace my processor because the only compatible option isn’t working with the motherboard. The BIOS should be reset since the board is brand new. Sorry, I should have mentioned all the recent upgrades in my post—it really makes it feel like a fresh build. The GPU, CPU, motherboard, and PSU are all brand new. The GPU is second-hand, but I don’t see any issues with hardware failure given the error pattern in the 1060. Everyone else has brand new gear. Not always. Games like Battlefield crash right away when I start them. Cyberpunk doesn’t seem to like the main menu. Overwatch will just appear randomly during gameplay. I’ve tried hwmonitor and Task Manager to track spikes or usage that might cause problems, but nothing stands out. GPU temperatures hit 80% max, CPU is similar. Appreciate the quick reply!

The issue appears to be brand new, which increases the chance it's a hardware problem rather than a software one. You'll need to check every component thoroughly. Updating to the latest version should help.

I need to consider my options given the current limitations. I’ve already updated the BIOS to the most recent release.

Have you explored other types of wall plug outlets?

I haven't done it before. It might be a nice opportunity. I'll give it a shot and update you.

I remember hearing about a video where someone faced similar issues—games would crash at their house but not at a repair shop. It seemed the problem was with the power outlet and insufficient voltage when under load. Also, since you're on Windows 11, there might still be some unresolved issues, right? Have you considered trying Windows 10 instead?

Checked my motherboard BIOS recently. It was a few months ago and I was really struggling, but a basic update resolved the issue.

Hi, interestingly I connected it to an extension lead during testing... I ran Cyberpunk 2077 for six hours without any crashes or performance issues. I’ll keep testing other games since BF2042 caused problems. I’ll follow up on my results. Thanks for your update! This was one of the first steps after upgrading my PC. I’ll verify if earlier versions exist between now and then.
