My main display ASUS VG248QE 24-inch is occasionally shutting off or flickering briefly. During these moments I still hear sound, my graphics card is current, and this has only begun to occur. I’m uncertain if the monitor is failing gradually since it’s fairly old, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, this tends to happen mainly when I’m using Chrome—especially during a game where I didn’t notice anything. I disabled hardware acceleration in Chrome after seeing some suggestions, but that didn’t resolve the problem. I have an i7 13700k ROG Strix Z790-E with 32GB DDR5, Corsair Vengeance EVGA 1000GT, and PS5.

I might be mistaken, but I'm sure it was just an AMD GPU problem. Nvidia has released driver updates before that caused random black screens, so checking the DDU and installing a driver from a few months ago could help determine if the current one is faulty. If not, it might be a bad cable or the monitor is failing. Based on my experience, a cable issue seems more likely, though it could be either way.

I faced a stuck DDU issue, so I chose the least expensive fix—replaced the cable. That worked out nicely. I was planning to discuss getting a new monitor with my wife, but I appreciate the support you gave me.
