I got a brand new motherboard and installed an M.2 SSD in the slot. The heatsink seemed to release some oil-like substance, and I found some oily liquid inside the SSD. It wasn’t water, and after trying to clean it off, it didn’t look like much. Is this normal? Should I be concerned about the SSD?

No, I'm not checking your PC's cooling system.

It wasn't present on a PC. It was only included in the motherboard box, and only the SSD was installed.

Thermal pads usually create a greasy film afterward.

Only the SSD was involved. It originated from the heatsink component.

I'm facing the same issue too. The sweat builds up too much, and my PC won't recognize the M.2 slot anymore. I tried cleaning it out and letting it dry.
