Some PC Games now like the Witcher Series and Duke Nukem Forever have some Female Nudity. Besides the Romance Card the first Witcher, there is Naked Dryad in one of the Swamps. With DNF there's Topless Strippers. But these games are rated M not AO. As PC Gamer for a few decades now, it used to that any Nudity in Computer Games were considered Adults Only. What changed? Were there Cultural Changes due to Gamers from the 80's and 90's grew up to be Adults? Steam used to allow any Nudity in the games they sold. But now they do. But how much is considered M Rated instead of AO? Edited March 21, 2022 by whm1974

AO likely intended more direct sexual content, whereas M's nudity isn't necessarily sexual.

I completely support this view, yet it's surprising how many think differently. The first Witcher failed to overcome the giant spider monster. I didn't try the other two characters.

To match those points, a title that reaches an AO rating usually falls into extremes—either explicit content or violent simulations. A good reference is GTA: San Andreas. The "Hot Coffee" addition brought it an AO until Rockstar fixed it. Games like Manhunt 2 and Hatred maintain an AO due to their intense and harsh violence.

The high ratings for Manhunt 2 and Hatred largely stemmed from the belief that their intense violence was intended for maximum shock value, not artistic expression. Audiences generally dislike excessive gore, making such content less appealing to rating organizations.

I remember the "Hot Coffee" section. The developers left it in, but you had to install a mod to make it work.

It's curious Steam doesn't feature Manhunt 2. I'll look into GOG later. They do have Manhunt and Hatred—worth a try? Any action titles that truly stand out? Maybe something R-rated or NC-17? I generally don't enjoy visual novels except for "Pact with a Witch," which has a quirky, funny story. This one follows an art student who saves someone from a roommate's advances, cursing him into becoming a woman—definitely one of the better options.

The game featured hidden assets that the mod enabled to function, but later updates removed them. Using the mod wouldn't restore those elements. Manhunt 2 isn't available on Steam due to its mature content, while Hatred sparked a major debate about its Greenlight status.

I own some AO Games from Steam that I downloaded for free, except for "Pact with a Witch." Their rules have changed recently, but they still lack Manhunt 2.

Manhunt 2 came out when Steam’s rules didn’t support Action-Oriented Games like today. It might have been possible, but now it’s mostly in Rockstar’s hands. Because of low demand, it isn’t being offered for purchase anymore.
