I switched to a Sapphire Nitro+ 9070 (Non-XT) roughly five months ago after moving from a 6600 XT. I didn’t notice the rattling before the upgrade. I installed it myself and had to connect an extra power cable to my PSU, which required rearranging some wires. I also did a light dust cleaning, but it’s started getting dusty again. The noise appeared right after the upgrade, though it wasn’t very loud. It becomes much more noticeable when the GPU is under heavy load. Checking the GPU Z sensors shows the sound appears at 100% GPU load with a fan speed of 16% and 895 RPM. Changing the fan control speed to silent in the Gigabyte Control Center doesn’t stop the rattling, suggesting it’s likely from the GPU itself rather than the case fans. When I close out of games and lower the GPU workload, the noise disappears, but a faint whirring remains. The video clip (IMG_5638.mov) shows it’s at least twice as loud in person. Could someone help identify the source and suggest a fix? It’s starting to become quite bothersome. I might have to consider filing a warranty claim, but I wouldn’t be able to use my PC if I have to ship the GPU.
This seems to be a fan encountering an issue similar to a loose cable. Pause each fan with your finger and check for any sounds. The noise should disappear once you stop the fan causing it. Your finger may feel a bit uncomfortable, but it's safe.
