Hey, I enjoy playing online games but every time anyone tries to load a page on the internet, I feel laggy and stuttery. It's really annoying because I'm paying for all of that by myself. So I think this is fair, right? But am I sure I won't still get lags even if I lower my own bandwidth limits or just switch to another provider who only gives me access? Also, can you recommend a router that lets me control my speed like that because mine doesn't work like that yet?
i am connected, while other people use their phones with wifi, and some have even bought computers that need a straight wire to connect.
Hey, if you use an internet cable (wired) directly into your router, that gets all your internet fast and steady. If you connect through the Wi-Fi, it's a different story because everyone sharing the same Wi-Fi signal can slow things down. What kind of internet package do you get from your ISP? Are you getting the exact value for what you pay?
I am testing LTE speeds at 50 mbps down and 25 mbps up. I said yes, but anyway someone told me to just make my computer high priority on the router's QoS setting. So I got an old Archer AX1800 router and set it up. It is one I thought had no internet connection, so I'll test it now.
If you have a cellular connection that works as an internet service provider, QoS might help fix things or it won't. QoS just makes sure the fastest traffic goes to where your computer is when it comes out of your router. Cellular is not very reliable compared to wired connections. Also, delays after your router are not fixed by QoS on your own device.
But I don't have trouble with just the router; it's other people in our house that slow down things.
If someone just needs to load up a single page on the internet, they probably won't use 50/25 bandwidth. Quality of Service (QoS) will only help speed up your output. Loading that page shouldn't slow down your 25 Mbps connection at all. If you were torrenting or streaming a 4K Netflix movie instead, then maybe QOS could make a difference. But based on what you said before, I think it's unlikely to change things. Could you be running into some other problems with your router? Maybe. What kind of router are you using?
well it is what it is, this connection has been like that forever. Maybe it's because of the games I'm playing, mostly FIFA and every time Spotify changes songs there is a lag. There is even a visual effect added to the game right now, but obviously I don't feel it in other games. Since its fifa most of the time, it really bothers me. It's a one year old archer ax1800 hooked up through the lte huawei modem b2368-66
You might just be stuck using mobile broadband because you're sharing the cell tower with lots of other people on their phones and devices. These connections are all over the place; they work well sometimes when there is lots of bandwidth and you have a strong signal, but they can fail completely if your signal is weak. Even if everything looks perfect, the internet service provider might prefer letting mobile users drive past while fixed (landline) people stay put. They don't want to cut off calls or stop internet sessions for those driving by so that their slow connection doesn't become a problem for you at home.
