Good morning everyone, I'm reaching out for advice! I'm considering purchasing a Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i with the following specs: Intel 13th i7, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, MiniLED 3.2k, and NVIDIA RTX 4060. I plan to use it mainly for entertainment and gaming. I've read some creator reviews, but I'm curious—do you have any experience with this machine for gaming? Specifically, have you played Assassin's Creed, Total War, Minecraft (with shaders), or GTA? I'd appreciate your thoughts!
Here are some performance figures that allow for comparison with other laptops featuring a 4060s chipset. Generally, gaming performance remains solid in this device. The GPU delivers strong power even in a compact form factor. The latest model (2024) has a few unusual problems; it’s unclear if these affect the 2023 version too. It gradually loses charge while connected and during gameplay. The discharge speed depends on screen brightness, so playing HDR at full brightness can cause about a 10% drop in battery life. The miniLED display shows brown streaks during high-contrast scenes in both SDR and HDR modes. The refresh rate is 165Hz, which reduces the impact of these issues compared to higher rates.
You're curious about the gaming experience. I can share what I know about noise, frame rates, and performance issues. Let me know if you want details on lag, overheating, or anything else!
I’ve only played Ori and the Will on the wisp so far. It was reasonably loud and warm, but noise-canceling headphones make it hard to notice. Overall, the performance ran smoothly and I didn’t have any complaints. Mostly I stream games from my desktop, so I can’t give much feedback on that. There are occasional odd delays across different operating systems, likely tied to the audio setup. When I switch to battery saver mode, it reduces Dolby Atmos processing, but it seems to cause a brief freeze. Adjusting the settings helped, though it might affect sound quality.
I switched to the 230w adapter. Now I can use it for long periods and it charges fully quickly.
