Hello to all, I’m an IT specialist working in a public institution in Italy, currently implementing a new PC fleet made up of Lenovo M70t machines. The issue is this: occasionally the computers stop responding to commands. The mouse cursor may move briefly but doesn’t register any action, then the system freezes. The front HD display stops blinking. We attempted to disconnect USB devices, but that didn’t help. After reconnecting the HDMI port, we still received no video signal. At startup, there are no critical errors logged, just a halt in event recording at the crash moment.

Technical details: Intel® Core™ i5-10400 CPU @ 2.90GHz, 2904 MHz, 6 cores, 12 threads; 8GB RAM; SSD Micron MTFDHBA256TDV 250GB / Samsung MZVLB256HBHQ-000L7 250GB (distinct between two order batches); Windows 10 64-bit 21H2; BIOS version M2TKT4DA; PSU HuntKey HK280-73PP 180W.

Possible causes: Sometimes it’s random, but often linked to heavy multitasking—especially using Google Earth or other apps across multiple screens, or playing YouTube videos via Firefox and switching browsers. Occasionally it happens during login after launch. We suspect a sudden CPU power spike might trigger the freeze. We tried updating BIOS, chipset software, GPU drivers, installing a dedicated GPU, adding more RAM, replacing some RAM modules, and switching to a fresh OS from Lenovo without applying any Group Policy objects. I also changed the SSD to an ADATA Swordfish M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4, which no longer crashes except once a month during Windows updates when I’m away.

Lenovo contacted us but is slow in sending machines for testing. Their support team checks MSINFO and event logs, but they insist on testing without domain access, even though other machines in their fleet don’t show the same problem. We’re not sure if it’s an SSD fault, since we can’t confirm defects across different brands or models. Maybe the motherboard or power supply unit is faulty? I’ve searched online and found no widespread reports for this exact model. Could be a hardware issue specific to our setup? I’m open to any advice or insights from others who might have encountered this.

Please let me know if you have any observations. Thank you.
