You can reinstall the old direct storage setup, but I haven't tried it myself. Others on Linux have done it, though results vary. On Windows, some users report reduced performance—especially noticeable at higher frame rates, with drops below 60fps and slower speeds. The CPU usage tends to stay around 70%, whereas previous updates kept it between 55–65%. Also, performance has actually declined since then. You also recompiled the shaders without any improvement.

It looks like you're referring to simply swapping in new game files without much effort.

Some folks mention Denuvo complaining about this, which is odd. There seem to be two locations for the DLLs, so I’m not sure if I need to place them in both spots (folders). The game directory is one, and the storage folder is another. I’d likely have to swap them in both, though it’s unclear. It might even be that the game generates them later.

This seems to be connected to Proton/WINE issues rather than DLL replacements. Each switch in Proton/WINE triggers a Denuvo activation.
