I've never encountered this situation before. I was installing an update for The Finals, and it worked fine initially. Once the installation started, it attempted to install on my SSD instead of the HDD. I searched online for solutions but found nothing clear, and I'm worried about losing my downloaded library if I disconnect things. Please note that the SSD I'm using has nearly 25 gigabytes of space, which is more than enough for the game. I'm unsure why it's trying to download and unpack everything. TO ADD TO THIS: I stopped the update because it wasn't progressing, exiting the queue, and it reports missing downloaded files.
This appears to be a game-related problem rather than a Steam issue. Please check your files—it should install the update automatically.
Did you allow the download and setup to complete? This seems to indicate your storage drive lacks sufficient space for the files to download, unpack, and install. My belief is it saves the files elsewhere temporarily to decompress them before placing them in your chosen SSD spot, then removes the original compressed files from your HDD afterward. Of course, this is just an assumption.
The disk space claim seems a bit confusing because the actual patch or update size after compression is often much smaller than the original download file.
