The latest software release caused issues with my gaming PC.
I use my gaming PC infrequently—perhaps once a week or less, maybe just twice a month. Recently I ran a Windows update and the screen went blank. I didn’t realize the restore option was disabled by default, so I can’t revert back. I haven’t backed up my system much because everything is stored on Steam. I tried reinstalling Windows from a USB I bought over a year ago, but it’s still not working. After installing AMD drivers from November 6, 2020, the screen remains blank when I restart. How can I get my older Windows version and drivers back? My machine has a Ryzen 2600, AMD 5700XT, and Windows 10 Home.
It happens during setup—screen flashes and then the resolution locks in, but it can vary based on your PC and internet speed. I’d wait about 30 minutes after installation to test it, just in case. Your issue might be related to installing graphics drivers during Windows’ automatic setup.
I don't think so. Once Windows installs, I immediately set up my users. Restarting helps. The resolution isn't right, so I downloaded the AMD driver from their website and reinstalled it. After restarting, the login screen appears blank when it should show up. I created a restore point before installing the driver so I can revert to that version and try something else. Windows updates are a PIA.
The setting was incorrect by default. I'll attempt those keyboard commands next weekend.
