I recently assembled a system with a 13900k, ROG 4090 OC, GSKILL Trident Z 32g, ROG Maximus z790 HERO, Samsung 980 Pro SSD Seasonic 1200W 80plus gold, and TT SWA fans (17 units). Only the 13900k is water cooled. The build looks great... but stability remains an issue. The PC runs perfectly until it randomly flickers or crashes with no blue screen, codes, or beeps. I've tried reinstalling Windows, updating drivers/firmware, resetting CMOS, and testing RAM on different sticks. BIOS settings were adjusted and AI overclock enabled, yet nothing changes. This is my first build; I suspect a missing BIOS setting somewhere. I'm certain all parts fit, but something in the BIOS might be off. I've also used a similar ultra-wide board with updated firmware, which works fine on my laptop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

No riser included. I don’t like risers that much.

Absolutely, I understand. Let me think of a way to express that.

It sounds like you're frustrated with something, maybe a situation or task you were trying to handle. You're considering coming up with an alternative approach and are reflecting on a previous attempt that didn't work. It's totally normal to feel that way!

Check if the monitor is causing the issue by switching to another monitor or cable. Try using a different GPU to determine if it's the problem. If you don’t have another GPU, running the system on an integrated graphics CPU might resolve the issue. Let me know if this helps!

Removed riser still works... My GPU has already been sent into ROG. It seems to function properly now. I've tried various cables, but it keeps happening. I've used an integrated GPU on the 13900k while the 4090 was installed... it still occurs. The monitor is fine; I've used a different PC with it. I suspect the issue isn't with the monitor at all, since the computer has stopped and restarted due to it. Also, when it crashes, it shows a black screen and the RGB on the fans revert to default, sometimes coming back, other times requiring a forced reboot. Great advice, still dealing with the problem. Thanks.

They mentioned a black screen often points to a Windows security problem, but reinstalling Windows didn’t fix it. It might be related to the motherboard or CPU. Have you heard of that before?

If it performed well at ROG, likely the issue lies with your monitor or the connection between your device and you. Consider testing on another screen.

I'll try it on one of my TVs. The monitor on my other PC is working well without any issues. It doesn't appear to be a bad monitor since it crashes only after the black screen flickers. The PC increases fan speed, and I can hear the audio from the external speaker. After that, it shuts off and restarts, showing the boot screen.

He took a long time to set up the correct standoffs since I can't read manuals. The computer is fully assembled without any riser cables, but the issue persists. My monitor works fine. It's still unclear what to do next. Are there any steps I can take to improve stability through overclocking? The PC crashes without warning—screen flickers, it restarts sometimes, and other times it just stops. I have to shut it down manually and restart it.
