Observed some changes a few days back when Asus dropped a new BIOS 2124 for my Strix X670E-E Gaming board. I updated it following the usual routine. This was the first time in about two months since the previous BIOS (2007 from April 24) that worked smoothly. Before that, I kept my X570 Gigabyte Aorus Pro running regularly without issues for four years. My RAM was set at EXPO 6000CL30, and I could safely undervolt it down to -20°C with all cores stable—though -30 was mostly okay except in certain tests like Passmark compression. Now, with the new BIOS:
- The system crashes and restarts within less than a minute when I lower voltage below -10.
- It fails to POST at EXPO 6000, instead sending an unknown "EC" code.
- I have to set it down to 5600 to get anything at all.
- The BIOS prediction window is completely off, claiming it can run at 4.9GHz at 1V? That was 5.7GHz at higher voltage before.
I’m confused—does Asus often release such problematic updates? Did they mess up the VID table like Intel? Am I the only one experiencing this? I might need to roll back, but I’m unsure if it’s safe to flash again without risking damage.
Check if you've turned off and removed the armory crate. Use the uninstall tool for armoury crate: https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury crate/helpdesk_download/. My 7800X3D didn’t post on the B650E with EXPO I, yet it performed well on EXPO II. I probably spent over 30 minutes trying to figure out why EXPO wouldn’t work before noticing my error about assuming ASUS would arrange options logically. I haven’t changed the BIOS since assembling the machine, because it’s been so reliable.

It seems the issue might relate to the significant differences between Ryzen 9000 and 7000 models. The 8000 series architecture aligns more closely with the 7000 line, which could explain the compatibility up to BIOS version 2007 (aside from Asus version 1.0.7.0a). The model 2124 corresponds to Asus version 1.2.0.0a.
