The latest AMD GPU release is triggering a warning on desktop computers!
I just installed the latest AMD driver updates and during the restart I heard the alarm for about five seconds before it shut down. I didn’t notice anything unusual at first. Later I saw Linus’s video on AMD drivers and decided to follow his tips after getting the 7900xt GPU. I enabled SAM and ran a benchmark for Horizon Zero Dawn. The alarm kept ringing until I finished the test. I also checked FurMark and it worked the same way. It seems the issue isn’t temperature-based—it stops when the workload ends. I started at around 54°F and ended near 60°F due to noise. There might be a software fix available; let me know if you’d like more details.
Determine the cause of the alarm and check your power supply unit. The alarm might stem from various issues such as insufficient power, wrong voltage, loose cables, etc. I don’t know which motherboard you have, so I can’t identify the specific type of problem. A long single beep that persists could indicate a fault, or you may need a motherboard manual to understand the possible alarms and their meanings.
Is the alarm in your PC or is it the UPS or some other power conditioning device? Is it the speaker on the motherboard, or the actual speakers... give more details. What do you mean by alarm? The video card can consume up to 350w or so and it does spike for short periods of time, so a UPS or power conditioning device may think such sudden power consumption is a sign what's plugged in is broken and may trigger the alarm. If the alarm is on your UPS/power conditioning, maybe you use a power cable or an extension cord with too thin wires, and this high power consumption causes some voltage drop on the AC wires which makes your UPS / power conditioning device think the AC electricity is bad and triggers the alarm.
