basically what the title describes. I use my mic with Chrome and Discord, and they both have the same problem. As soon as the mic stops being used, the sound returns to normal. I've tried changing the communication tab settings, updating drivers, turning off the "listen to this device" option, but nothing works. I think the fix should be easy but I can't find it on forums or from my own research.

I'm using an ASUS Vivobook 16X laptop with a Nvidia GPU and Windows 11. Thanks.

Check if you're employing a headset or external microphone, or if the laptop's microphone is active. Also, verify if noise cancellation is turned on in Discord or your sound card application.
