I possess an Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 (GA503RM) with a Ryzen 7 6800HS and an RTX 3060 Mobile GPU. When under stress, the CPU temperature rises rapidly exceeding 90°C, while the GPU stays in the 60-70°C range. You’re looking for possible reasons behind this behavior using HWiNFO64. After opening the laptop and cleaning dust from fans and heatsinks, you blocked the fans and everything worked fine. The attached images show a light CPU workload. Temperatures were comparable on both components during the same task.
A few points to mention. The GPU runs at just 3% usage in this photo—idle, not working hard. The 6800HS is a 35W TDP part with a 42W power draw, which makes sense considering laptop performance.
The GPU chip is probably much bigger than the CPU, making it simpler to manage its heat. Looking at the internal images I captured (though not certain about the exact model), there are numerous heatpipes connecting both the CPU and GPU to exhaust fans. This setup would benefit the GPU more significantly than the CPU.
