Hey guys, my laptop got a bit wonky yesterday. I tried setting its speed to 0.40 GHz while plugged in, but it still doesn’t behave right. Now it’s running Windows 11 after a fresh install, yet the issue persists. Have anyone noticed anything unusual about the system settings or drivers? I’m not sure what’s causing it.
Seems to be a BIOS configuration rather than an operating system adjustment.
This might be a BIOS problem, but WIN 11 is still fresh and could relate to a driver. I’d grab them and reinstall.
Brings to mind the Dell T320 server problem where performance dropped at 1.2Ghz. The root cause was a BIOS glitch. Look for a BIOS update; if the laptop is still under warranty, reach out to their tech support. Also consider checking the BIOS for a "performance mode" setting, which might resolve the issue.
Check the BIOS settings and ensure the clock speed is enabled. When you disconnect the charger, the speed should increase automatically. If not, try resetting the system or consulting the manufacturer's support for further guidance.
Consider updating the BIOS since my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming also had the same issue, but it has an Intel CPU with Ryzen. The problems seem linked to Intel's thermal management features, which I'm not sure about.
Even after the BIOS update, the clock remains stuck at 0.40 GHz. Do you have any other suggestions?
