Hey all, So my gf's laptop is having this weird issue. I'll put the specs below. Basically when it goes to sleep, the screen sometimes comes back, sometimes doesn't. The Windows Hello does its thing flickering and flashing, but the screen stays black. Sometimes the screen's backlight comes on, but sometimes it doesn't. If I plug an external monitor, I can usually access the computer, but it sometimes still thinks the laptop screen is connected, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes the screen is missing from Device manager, sometimes it's there. If I reboot it usually doesn't fix anything. Sometimes if I shut it down either friendly from the start menu on the external screen or sometimes if that doesn't work, then I can shutdown, wait a few seconds then it comes back up. I've also tried the 20 second power button reset and it sometimes works, usually doesn't. Sometimes if I show "hidden devices" in Device Manager, I'll see like 4+ copies of the laptop screen listed as hidden. So I'll uninstall all then reboot and sometimes that fixes it, sometimes not. Hardware or software? Not sure. Sometimes closing the lid and opening works, but sometimes this can all happen without physically touching the laptop and just using the external screen. Rebooting sometimes the screen comes back in device manager and sometimes it doesn't. It's all VERY VERY unpredictable. I've updated BIOS and all Lenovo drivers. I've updated the Nvidia drivers for the onboard 3050 mobile as well as the bios drivers for the AMD integrated display adapter. I've used DDU (Display driver uninstaller) for both Nvidia and AMD and reinstalled. The one strange thing I'm noticing is that it's Windows 11 and when I check for updates it ALWAYS says it's up to date, but the last update installation was October 2023. (Aside from definition updates which are current). For this I tried stopping all the update services, deleting C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\ and no help. I'm considering a full uninstall/reinstall, but this is a laptop she uses CONSTANTLY so finding time is tough. Oh also, the boot up bios/UEFI splash doesn't even apear on the laptop when the screen is out. And the latest issue is that I can't get the laptop screen to work at all today. I tried opening it up and reseated the LCD cable, removed the battery and held the power for 60 seconds. There's no CMOS battery (that I can find anyway). RAM is soldered so can't reseat that. Anyone had this issue before? At first I was thinking physical then a bunch of software weirdness came up in device manager without touching the laptop at all, but now I'm wondering again if it's hardware. Specs: Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro 16ACH6 purchased Oct 2022 Processor:AMD Ryzen™ 7 5800H Processor Operating System:Windows 11 Pro 64 Graphics:NVIDIA® GeForce® RTX™ 3050 Laptop GPU 4GB GDDR6 Memory:16 GB DDR4-3200MHz (Soldered) Storage:1 TB SSD M.2 2280 PCIe TLC Display:16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600), IPS, Glare, Touch, VESA HDR 400, 100%sRGB, 500 nits, 120Hz, Low Blue Light, TUV Certification, Eyesafe Certification, LED Backlight WLAN:Wi-Fi 6 2x2 AX & Bluetooth® 5.0 or above

Interesting situation... I checked the Windows RAM using an external monitor and it showed no issues, but after turning it off and back on the screen became blurry and distorted, though it functioned partially. After rebooting, I unplugged the external display and tried again—now everything works fine. If only I could replace the RAM, but that seems unlikely. When I plugged it in, closed the lid, waited for sleep, opened it, and the screen came back on. It might be a voltage problem with the RAM.

The laptop is newer than two years, so it might still be covered by the warranty. Have you contacted Lenovo or the store where you purchased it to check if they can repair it under warranty?

If you're still under warranty, it would be best to contact customer support. It seems the screen might be failing or the connection between the display and the mainboard could be loose.

We seem to have received just the one-year warranty, but I’ll review it further. If it isn’t covered, I’ll compare the cost before deciding. If it involves a cable or even the display panel, I might try it myself. My concern is that it could be something on the mainboard, so I don’t want to spend too much money or time Smile
