Heya, I'm getting an MSI GS65 9SF Stealth laptop. The E key isn't working right when you press it in the middle. I recorded a short video about this: https://streamable.com/j5hm1t I tried swapping out the plastic part under the key and the little rubber piece with another that works fine, but the problem is still there. Also, I cleaned underneath the key, nothing helped. This laptop was bought as a backup and has been used for less than a month since it came home, but now it's past warranty time so I'm hoping to get this fixed. Any tips or ideas would be great!
It is a real pain, and I can't seem to find a cheaper replacement for it in the UK or Ireland. Even then, getting it done isn't easy because I'd have to take almost everything out of the laptop just to reach the keyboard. Are there any do-it-yourself fixes or other ways to fix this without buying an entire new one?
I can't talk about your MSI laptop though. For my Thinkpad ones, swapping out the keyboard is easy and takes just a few mins. Also, does the E key feel different than others when you hit it?
It looks like the issue is deep down inside the button part where you don't have easy access. That's why just swapping out the little keycap won't help!
I'm sad but I think your keyboard looks just like mine. It's missing one button, and pressing "A" ten times doesn't seem to do anything. I'll try getting an extra USB keyboard for now.
