Hey everyone. I'm facing a weird problem with my laptop. I recently bought a new WD Blue SSD 250GB and tried swapping it into my Samsung Series 5 laptop. After the swap and installing Windows, I'm still having trouble booting. The computer won't start unless a USB stick is connected—no matter what type or port it is. I've checked every setting in the BIOS, tried different boot orders and fast boot options, even reinstalled Windows multiple times. I've also shared my experience with others who had similar issues, and I'd really appreciate any advice or solutions you might have. Also, just a note: the laptop works fine in all other situations, even with that strange boot problem.

What are the specifications? Also, can the system start up in safe mode?

You adjust the boot sequence, but your SSD remains not the initial startup device.

Boot sequence is interesting, the SSD comes in first. When I power on, it asks me to press any key to boot from USB, but if I don’t, it boots fine—only when a drive is connected. I haven’t tried Safe Mode since I can switch to Windows quickly.

I recommend starting with the Intel Chipset Utility driver reboot, then restarting without the USB connected.

Thanks for the effort people. Little update, after battling with this problem this whole weekend I ended up using Acronis True Image WD Edition. Worked like a charm (for now). This makes me believe that the problem was something with the proprietary Samsung software the laptop came with.
