Looking for potential solutions to recover this laptop. It suffered a minor impact that damaged the screen, leaving it completely unresponsive. After removing the display and ordering a replacement, I considered connecting it to a monitor temporarily. The system booted normally on Windows 10 but eventually froze with a signal loss, suggesting possible hardware issues. I tried a fresh installation of Windows, which worked well, though I noticed only one fan running when the case was open. The screen issue seemed more like a display malfunction rather than a GPU failure, as the image showed a glitched black-and-white pattern. I’m unsure if the GPU is completely dead or if there’s another problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It seems Windows is transitioning to a faulty screen. You might attempt pressing the win key plus p several times to switch to the external monitor. If this fails, disconnecting the defective LCD could help, as Windows might assume the display is gone and switch to the external one.
this, either from the panel or the mobo, is enough—it really depends on where the impact occurs. If it hits the bottom area of the screen, especially near the bezel just below the LCD, it can damage the ribbon or the glass part the ribbons connect to. This won’t appear as cracks in the screen and will cause issues like color loss and large lines across the display.
Attempted it, but the panel is disconnected and the win p does nothing.
Hold on, okay. I've unplugged the monitor cable from the motherboard. At least the monitor should turn on now before it stops working. I'll test the new panel once it arrives; it seems like the laptop is being finicky.
