The ram wasn't attached by soldering since I took off the panel and took out the ram stick, leaving it separate from the board.

somehow i doubt it can be sofware lock. never seen laptop that been locked in that way but lenovo had some devices locked in bios like wifi chips. but never heard abaut memory lock
