Hello, I own a Surface Laptop 4 that occasionally freezes, sometimes triggering BSODs, other times not, but only when connected to a power source—not when using battery power. After several checks with WhoCrashed, I believe the issue stems from insufficient heat dissipation from the device. I installed CPUID HWMonitor, which indicates that when plugged into mains, the CPU reaches around 85°C (185°F), whereas on battery, it stays at 45°C (113°F)—a difference of 50°C or 72°F. I've also noticed the CPU can rise to 92.5°C (198°F) under mains power even with moderate usage, though the fan activates as it heats up. I've lowered the maximum power setting for the CPU on mains to 80% in the power menu, but the problem persists. Do you know any solutions to address this overheating concern?

Billbill provided an effective approach worth testing. Consider employing compressed air to maintain the fan and heatsink clean; it's surprising how quickly dust accumulates. Compressed air is available in cans specifically for PC applications.
