I tried adjusting the power-saving settings on my (up-to-date) W11 laptop. It now shuts down after about half an hour because it keeps working even when I close the lid or turn off the screen. After resetting to normal and disabling sleep completely, the screen still goes black, though the computer continues running. I also tried turning off hibernate and even that didn’t help. I’m stuck and don’t know what’s causing this. Besides saving data quickly and reinstalling, anyone have suggestions or solutions? Thanks!

On certain systems you can adjust how the sleep display functions, such as using a black screen or disabling the sync signal. These options might be found in the screen saver settings or power settings, though it's unclear where they are placed amidst the shifting configurations.

Smart suggestion though—it’s turned off. I looked into the Windows event log but found nothing urgent there; still, the problem appears resolved somehow. The energy mode is now set to performance instead of Asus recommendations, and it seems to function properly now.

Visit the laptop manufacturer's website and download the newest drivers for Windows 11. Find graphics, chipset, USB, sound, Bluetooth, Nic, WIFI support, and more. Browse their site for every available driver for your laptop and Windows 11. Avoid installing drivers from other sources. If you've already installed, like NVIDIA drivers, try DDU first (search online). Begin with only the vendor-approved drivers to check if the problem resolves, then explore newer versions (such as graphics drivers).
