I've recently bought a broken Fujitsu S936 just for fun to see what I could do with it, but I'm stuck. The laptop came with no battery, charger or hard drive, however I do have a Fujitsu s935 that I usually use, that had a compatible charger and a battery with the same port (I'm not sure if it's the same model though) Here's what's happening: - When the laptop is plugged in, but battery taken out and I push the power button I get a blinking LED but nothing else. - When the battery is in the fan spins for about 1-2 seconds, then stops, after a moment the same thing again, and then after another minute the fan starts working normally. All the LEDs look as if the laptop was working fine, but I still don't see any image on the screen. Also nothing after plugging in an external HDMI screen. - If I plug in the HDMI monitor, then put in the battery and press the power button the fan doesn't spin, one LED is on constantly and the rest are blinking. - If I take the CMOS battery out, put the power battery in and press the button I get a single beep, nothing else - The first launch after putting the CMOS battery back in also gives a single beep. The next one works as previously (spins normally after third try) Unscrewing the heat pipe I discovered that there is very little thermal paste there and it's mostly around the edges. The keyboard doesn't seem to be working - I can't turn on the backlight, and the caps lock key doesn't light up either. I can come up with 3 things that could've happened: 1. It's a heat problem and applying fresh thermal paste will solve it (I'd check but I don't have any right now and it's night where I live) 2. The graphics card is broken. In that case I don't know if it's possible to replace it, or if the whole motherboard is screwed. 3. Both the built in screen and the HDMI slot are broken while the laptop is actually working fine. None of those options explain why the battery is working and the power plug isn't though. I tested the socket with a multimeter, the black and red wires are working fine, but I've no idea what the blue one is, it doesn't show any voltage when I test it (but neither does the same one on my working s935). Please let me know if you have any ideas about how to fix it or what even is broken - out of pure curiosity I would like to find out what happened even if the whole board is trash.
