Hi, I'm working on setting up an eGPU, but my laptop won't boot at all—just the NGFF to HDMI cable connection in the Wi-Fi port. Could you help me figure this out? Thanks!

The HP Pavilion 17 runs an AMD Radeon R5 with an A10-9620P graphics card, connected via an eGPU dock called "Exp GDC."

You might have already gone over this, but it's worth a try if you haven't. External VGA/GPU for Laptops with EXP GDC Beast

I arranged everything according to the article's suggestions for a bios that supports external hardware. However, it also notes some bios require unlocking features like GDC Beast. Sadly, I might need to tackle that myself too, but thanks for the guidance—now I have a potential solution as long as I can learn how to modify the bios. Appreciate it!

It's possible the secure boot feature is connected to the issue you're experiencing. I wasn't sure about its role at first.

Certain motherboard makers offer bootable files on USB drives to access the BIOS. With HP models, pressing Esc at startup and then F10 usually navigates to the Advanced BIOS settings, where secure boot options are available. For older HP systems, I’m not sure how to proceed.

Thanks for the advice. The secure boot was already turned off, which didn’t resolve the issue. Someone mentioned that disabling network boot might affect the whitelist check, but that didn’t help either. I’m thinking about reaching out to HP support to explore further options, though I doubt they’ll provide much assistance.

It looks like your BIOS is being automatically approved just like other HP/Dell/Lenovo machines. The only way to change this is by having someone skilled modify it and upload it yourself, which could involve extra parts and take you through the laptop’s internal components.

I've also been checking this. But I'm not sure how to find the original build date of my device. I purchased it two years ago. Someone mentioned that the whitelist covers computers made before 2011, with a few exceptions up to 2015. Also, my machine is an "HP 17-ar050wm" if you need more details.
