I possess a Lenovo Ideapad S130-14IGM Laptop with important information stored. I can reach the BIOS. When powering it on, I first see the Lenovo splash screen, then the rotating Lubuntu logo, followed by the mouse pointer. It stops there. I can enter the BIOS by pressing F2 repeatedly after turning it on. I attempted to change from Legacy to UEFI settings and back, but the result remained the same. I tried switching from iGPU to GPU, but no such setting exists in the BIOS. I also tried booting from USB, which worked. Safe boot is turned off, and the USB key can boot another machine, indicating the issue isn't related to that. Previously, the laptop would freeze easily. If Gmail was open without using it, the system would freeze. Opening Gmail and Libre Office simultaneously caused freezing. Using Facebook for extended periods also led to freezing. I avoided freezing as much as possible, rebooting when necessary. I continue using it for work because it's portable, smaller, and lighter than my other device. I have two questions: Can I fix the laptop? How can I do it? And can I connect it to another machine via a bridged USB cable to recover data?

If restoring the operating system to a spare drive works after removing the original one, then the problem likely lies with the faulty or failing drive or a corrupted OS on that drive.
- Is it possible to connect it to another device using a bridged USB cable to recover data?
Have you attempted to repair the operating system?

I'm unable to operate on the OS since I can't enter terminal mode. Or perhaps I could try, but I haven't discovered the method without using the GUI.
I have a bootable USB drive that lets me access some laptop OS settings, but it doesn't work for booting either.
