Hello, I own an Acer Aspire R3 Series H4 laptop. It comes with an Intel Pentium® CPU N3710 @1.60GHz (both cores), 4GB RAM, and a 500GB Western Digital HDD. The problem I’m experiencing is that whenever I install any OS other than Windows, it starts up fine but then randomly freezes after a while. Rebooting or reinstalling doesn’t help; the laptop just locks up. I’ve tried various HDDs without resolving the issue. I experimented with different operating systems—Pop OS, Ubuntu, Linux Mint (didn’t boot), Lubuntu, Manjaro, Arch (didn’t boot), Kubuntu, Fedora, Puppy Linux, ChromeOS Flex—but freezing occurred with each one. Even after switching to Windows 11, the issue disappeared. Yesterday, when I installed ChromeOS Flex, it froze right after setup when navigating menus. I switched back to Windows 10, and no freezes appeared. The freezing happens unpredictably, without unusual activity in the monitor. It doesn’t seem to be triggered by any specific action. For Linux, ensure CSM is enabled in the BIOS settings. If not, the system may not be properly supported since it hasn’t fully transitioned to UEFI yet. Verify your laptop’s BIOS options for CSM compatibility; otherwise, running Linux might not be feasible.

The BIOS doesn't support CSM. The available boot choices are UEFI or Legacy, and you can enable or disable secure boot as needed.
