Hello, I planned to replace the battery in the Asus Q526F. After connecting the main power cord, I noticed small sparks at the connector. When I installed the thin white cable, it began smoking, so I removed the old battery from the Asus unit and placed the new one on this one. I purchased the original battery and cable from Amazon via the link you shared. I’m wondering where to locate the genuine parts and whether the laptop was damaged. It doesn’t seem like anything is broken—perhaps the issue started because I took the white cable off the old battery, which had some adhesive left behind.

It seems the cable might have been affected, possibly due to smoke. The battery and laptop appear relatively safe, though there are safeguards in place. It looks like the cable likely caused a direct short to the battery this time.

I’m not sure, but I can help you find the right name for the cable.

Contact ASUS and hope they still produce the cable; otherwise, third-party options may claim functionality but could be mismatched for your laptop model. The best solution is to take it to ASUS for repair or a qualified tech service center, since desktops often have many fragile cables that are difficult to replace.

This flat ribbon cable is likely the only one from ASUS with that specific version. Best of luck!
